What does it mean to Devote to a Guru?

In my limited understanding, I believe Guru Devotion is doing what makes our Guru happy. And since our Guru IS a representative of Kuan Yin on earth, what would make Kuan yin happy? - to be kind to everyone, to harm no one and to purify our minds from harmful thoughts.

Without these foundations, we can go to the deepest reaches of Tibet and obtain the most high, most powerful teachings the universe has ever known, still without basic qualities like Love, Compassion and Forgiveness ... no true attainments can be won.

Forgiveness and Giving is the very root of the Higher Qualities, if we cannot forgive, we would be unable to be equanimous, unable to be impartial to all and unable to truly be Kuan Yin-like i.e. to Love All Sentient Beings. Imagine... I will Love All Sentient beings except so and so.... lol ( sounds like me in a fit of anger haha)

If we are unable to Give, true compassion will never arise, for Compassion is about Giving Care, Giving Material needs, Giving protection and Giving Wisdom to the ones we Love.

Selfless Love or humbug?

Intense Selfishness, Self-Cherishing and Self-centredness is the reason why Selflessness is almost non-existent in the world nowadays.

Everyone wants to be happy, No one wants hurt or pain. When extending a hand of help or kindness, Fear of rejection grips most people. Also, self-benefit almost always springs to mind, like "will it benefit me if I help?" Worse, " Will I get roped into trouble if I help? Like will this person hound me all the time to be a pilalr of strength?"

Selfless Love for others is not to totally be ignorant of our own needs, but I believe it is putting the needs of our Loved Ones before ours be they Family, Lovers, Friends or Colleagues. If we because immobile, obsolete and in need, then who are we able to help and love when we ourselves are a nuisance?

Selfless Love is an easy practice to preach, a 5 year old can quote it but an 80 year old will find trouble applying it. Because to be able to feel selfless love, someone out there must first show what suffering is, so that Kindness, Compassion and a Caring Heart rises in our being... Mother Teresa was a wonderful example of Selfless Love. The locals were against her for fear of her converting them and causing family feuds, the vatican ex-commed her for disobeying their instructions ( from autobiography books ) and the overwhelming numbers of homeless, sick and unloved was really beyond a simple nun with only a few rupees to her name. Yet she stuck it out.... Selfless Love is Sacrificial Love... Mothers sacrifice their strength, their bodies and take the pain to love and protect a child....

Not many of us are willing to sacrifice our comforts for anything or anyone... Try taking my last tub of Rocky Road to love someone and you will hear the loudest screech of protest ring thru the sky lol :) lol

Will I take rebirth as a Fairy Princess?

If you lived your life Noble and True, Full of Benevolence, Kindness where Love ensues,
Reborn again you may as a human being,
Born with necessities and pleasant to the world of beings.

With Benevolence or Kindness far beyond compare,
Rebirth as a Celestial being of Might and Light you may take,
In a blink of an eye, all your desires will be met
and all your wishes reality make.

If Mean you were, Nasty and Cruel ,
Raging with Anger, Violence, Hatred, and Strife,
Harming others with Glee and all your might....
A helpless animal you may be born, being hunted, being tortured and bound from day to night.

If actions and all were far more wicked,
Causing physical harm to others plus cutting DEEP into the hearts,
the realm of Helpless Spirits may be born,
or the land of Hellish Torture bearing the pain you inflicted on others.
Forged from the sufferings you caused in others

My faith is NOT a religion... so what?

Religion is losely defined as a belief in a God or Goddess OR a Pantheon of Gods and Goddesses that are responsible for the creation of the world.

What I find funny is how people like to argue on the meaning of the word.... My faith is NOT a religion, but a relationship to God or My Faith is NOT a religion but a way of Life, my path is NOT a religion but a way to reunite with the Divine Source yada yada yada.... Its a Whole Potato ( Po-Tay-Toe ) and Potatoe ( Poh-Ta-toe ) issue its just a definition. You can call it Ben and Jerrys and its still gonna be what it is. Just a word/label to define it... the essence ain't gonna change

Who is the creator? WHo has Seen the creator? Who can confirm with 100% proof that their version of the Creator is THE ONE? If religion wasn't part of the "creator's" plan, she/he wouldnt have ALLOWED it to manifest and flourish like it has... either in a positive or negative light. Therefore, I believe we should get over arguing WHY it is NOT a religion but...

Instead get over the labelling but find a harmony between the good essences of each and every benevolent path, and propogate that... I think its way better than killing each other for the differences between them.
